"Calm after the Storm"

Firstly, for the ungeeky:

This sketch is a rendering of how I envisioned an Eldar would look like. If you play Warhammer 40,000, or Dawn of War, you will have a headstart -_-. If not, well... suffice to say this thing's meant to be a space elf warrior. Yes, there are human skulls down there, and she's smiling and all jolly good about it. So oh well then. -_-
Unfortunately it looks very un-elf like (no high cheekbones! and pointed ears! sorry DMs... it's SACRILAGE). Plus the wierd expression (I went through ten different and disturbing facial poses before sticking to one... another redrawing and the face would tear off! haha. it's still is pretty crap). But good practice nontheless.
Will... do... less.... girly.... pictures.
'Trying' is a very hard thing to do.
Then again, interpret the picture however you choose. Colours will come later.

Now the part for the initiated: (requires no social life and a disturbing fetish for plastic and white-lead models)

Yes. She has no Banshee helm on. They can put up with the lack of a shuriken pistol. And the human face. And overabundance of clothing. But the cannot forgive the old-style armour! EVIL!!! the GW junkies cry out.

But wait!!! You have to look to the awesome 3rd-Ed era for the brilliance! the Eldar.. soo much care and love put into envisioning them as a cohesive race! God bless Goodwin-style. This is where true genius lies, natch. So do not complain.

youre quickly becoming my favourite pencil artist.
brilliant shading as always. you have such a lovely ability to make things shine. personally i would have thought of them somewhat more alien. but no one knows so who cares about that. only thing i would say to look out on this would be the feet. they look really flat in comparisson to the the rest of this great picture.

the foolish speak of people. the common speak of events. only the wise speak of ideas.

Im working on a project called the Anargo Sector Project in which we try to create an entire Imperial Sector in full detail. First of all we deal with the background however we mix sources from the older editions and the new editions, and besides that we also give somewhat of our own interpretation to certain concepts in the background GW has been ignoring somewhat.

Besides the background of all the worlds, races, economies, factions, politics etc etc etc we are also trying to create a dedicated artwork, the artwork section is where we are looking more artists for since we could always use more skilled people. Now if you are interested to join up and see a challenging interpretation of the 40k background you should check out the following links:

Just join up if you like!

Peace!

Malika

PS. I'll let you already know that we are a fan project and not a professional undertaking. Because of this we are not able to pay for our artists, we simply work together because we are fans of the 40k hobby.

Hey thats brilliant! I myself am a big fan of the computer game (don't know squat of the actual model game), and, of course, the banshees are my fav units. You reall got a beautiful model there!

this is more inspired by the original artwork (waay back in the 90s, I believe...) than anything else. Cause I'm a slacker at drawing action poses.. ^^
